We’ll get to know what you like, what you don’t like, and how you’ll use the space to bring together a perfectly balanced yet playful look, integrating personal items that mean a lot to you and vintage elements that make a statement.
From managing all contractor communications and sourcing custom furniture and artwork to refinishing family heirlooms and ordering furnishings so they’re ready to stage all at once, at Home Methods, your only “job” is to give us feedback until you’re happy with the design and then simply watch your remodel come to life.
Whether you’re upsizing to a new home and need to make the most of the new space with the right furnishings and accessories, or you’re downsizing and want help deciding what to keep, refinish, and buy new, we can take the decision headaches away with honest, practical, and design-first advice.

From contractor management to final staging, we take care of every piece of the interior decorating puzzle.
Once we talk interiors in a free 30-minute consultation to get an idea of what you need, we visit your home to dive deeper into your goals and take measurements
After you’ve approved the contract, we get to work on creating two detailed design boards with floor plans (plus a rendering if your project includes construction) to help you visualize your new space
Once you’re happy with the final designs, we source and manage any vendors and contractors needed to execute your design and create a detailed project schedule
During the sourcing phase, we purchase any furnishings, custom pieces, and decór to complete your design, keeping them in one place until we’re ready to decorate
Once all your new pieces have arrived, we install everything in your new room to bring the final look together along with your personal pieces

Based on your preference, we can try to incorporate as much of your current furniture into your design. However, some pieces might be too worn, outdated, or far removed from the new style concept to work. But listen, we won’t force you to part ways with anything—all we can do is gently advise or give the old piece some love with refinishing or reupholstering services.
When you book your free 30-minute consultation, you’ll answer some questions to give us a good idea of what you want. But before our chat, it might be helpful to have a list of likes, dislikes, budgets, and general goals for your project. Got pictures or a Pinterest board? Even better!
Though we don’t offer color consultations as a standalone service, we do include these in every remodel or interior design project to help you select the perfect colors and finishes to fit your preferences and design concept.
Developing and finalizing your designs are typically the shortest part of the process. Depending on availability, ordering pieces and scheduling vendors is a bit more time-consuming.
Generally, the entire interior design process takes between 3-6 months, though this varies from client to client.
We advise you to start your design process sooner rather than later, so we've got everything installed for that big housewarming party (or another deadline you have in mind!)
In our contract, you’ll see a fixed fee per room and estimated hours. We’ll approach your project one room at a time and move at a pace you’re comfortable with, making sure we create a cohesive, connected style across every room.
We can change them! We typically provide two unique design options to give you a sense of how both of them can work in the space. We also provide alternate options for key pieces (i.e., sofas, rugs, etc.) to give you more flexibility.
We typically need more time with you during the consultation phase to get a deep understanding of your needs. Then, we’ll work hard in the background pulling a cohesive design concept together, so that we can present a finalized plan, rather than small parts of it. This is when we’ll need you again to give us as much feedback as possible until you’re happy with the design.
During the implementation phase, we have everything we need, so we tend to speak less as we’re busy pulling your entire look together, ordering products, and managing contractors and vendors. But don’t worry—we keep you informed at every step of the process.
If you see or buy a new piece you’d like us to include or have any questions at all, always feel free to reach out. When it comes to communication and involvement levels, we let you guide us. If talking more often makes you feel more comfortable, let’s do that. If you prefer periodic check-ins, that’s ok too!
Unfortunately, our client’s budgets vary, so we have to give the classic answer: It depends (sorry!).
In general, it’s good to have an idea of what you’re comfortable paying for in terms of materials and our interior design time and expertise.
If you only know the total amount you wish to spend, that works too. We’ll always be honest with you about what you can or can’t accomplish with your budget.
If there’s something specific you want to get out of our time working together, please let us know so we can make sure it’s accounted for (pun intended) from a budgetary standpoint.
After our initial 30-minute consultation and home visit, we’ll be able to give you a quote for your project, at which point you can decide whether you’d like to work with us or not.
We can help you narrow down your style, but what’s more important for us is understanding what you like and don’t like. Love purple but hate yellow? That’s great information for us to have! Have a strong desire for privacy and like to keep your windows covered? That’s important too!
If you have pictures, pieces of furniture, or stories about your space that tell us what you’re looking for, that goes a lot farther than saying, “I like mid-century modern.” Of course, if you know you like mid-century modern, then, by all means, tell us that too!
During the consultation and design revision phases, we will ask all the right questions to pull out a style from what you tell us, creating something truly unique to you.
Absolutely! If you have a vendor in mind you’d like to use, we’re happy to work with them. We also have a trusted network of local Baltimore contractors and vendors if you need recommendations. Whether you want to source your own or use our network, we can manage them for you, so you’re not overwhelmed with admin.
Our designs will give you everything you need to source and buy any item, and we’re happy to step aside while you do so. If, however, you’d like a more full-service approach, we’ll own everything for your space, including ordering products, so it’s one more thing you can cross off your to-do list!
We help clients from all over Baltimore and surrounding counties! From somewhere else and want our interior design services? Get in touch, and we’ll see what we can do.
Working with Emilie was great! She knew all the right questions to ask about our space and style—the stuff she pulled for us was spot on! And installation was a breeze—Emilie works quickly and diligently. Would absolutely use her again for any other home decor projects.
Emilie has been an absolute pleasure to work with! Not only does she bring superior sense of style, but she's budget conscious and really listens to the needs of her clients. We originally had hired her just to help us to pick paint colors and redesign our bathrooms but we were so impressed with her work, that we've now hired her to redesign our porch, style the outside of our home, redesign the guest room, figure out some kind of "command center" for our kitchen, and many other small things. We also had her project manage installation of several light fixtures and the painters and order all the items for our home. Absolutely worth the money. Not only did she do a thorough walk through of the house with the workers (and caught a bunch of imperfections we completely missed) but she got us great deals on many of the pieces with her discounts! Just do yourself a favor and hire Emilie ASAP.

Emilie was fantastic! She transformed my newly purchased house into a beautiful home. She listened to my likes and dislikes and created a vision based on my taste, not hers. She was easy to work with and very responsive to calls, texts and emails. I would use her for my next project and recommend her without any reservations.
Absolutely loved working with Emilie! She took my jumble of Pinterest board ideas and created a beautiful living room and dining room in my new home. Her design perfectly captured my style in ways I could not have imagined. She was incredibly responsive, and handled the ordering (and returning/exchanging) of items, which made the process that much easier for me. She also recommended excellent painters. I get so many compliments on my rooms and they are my most favorite rooms in the house. I highly recommend Emilie!
Emilie was so thoughtful in her approach to redesigning our home, keeping our budget and ever changing needs top of mind. She also was punctual to every appointment and was truly excited about our project, which meant a lot to us. I would highly recommend Emilie for any home design project. We’d hire her again in a heartbeat!
I had the best experience working with Emilie. It was my first time working with a professional interior designer and it was fabulous! She came to my house prepared and asked great questions about my style and preferences. She measured the space and we discussed what to keep in the space and what to add. She was clear about her contract and made me feel at ease with the process. Once she left my house, the turn around time for the 2 design options she sent me felt so quick! The designs were easy to understand and the program she uses is intuitive and easy to navigate. She even had links to other products in case I was not sure or did not like a particular items. All throughout the process she was in constant communication about the products and next steps. I am thrilled with the results of my family room and she made it feel so cozy! All I want to do is sit in the room and feel relaxed. I highly recommend Emilie and have even given her contact information to friends who have come over to see my new awesome space. Thanks again Emilie!
I recently bought a home in need of a complete interior paint refresh. I was overwhelmed with the number of painting companies in the area and reached out to Emilie for help. She quickly lined up three painting companies and booked time with each one for me. Emilie was present with me for the first walk-thru—pointing out things that should be addressed, including repainting my fireplace mantel. She offered to handle the final two walk-thrus herself so I wouldn't have to take time off from work. Now in just over a week's time, my new home will be freshly painted in time for move-in day. Emilie took away a huge amount of stress simply by sourcing and booking appointments for me. I'm looking forward to working with her again in the very near future.
I am so happy I found Emilie. I recently moved and needed help on my dream living room. I wanted something oddly specific, but my ideas were sort of vague and all over the place. Emilie viewed the space, listened to my ideas and came up with something I truly treasure. I think it works so well because she is such a good listener. She didn't throw trendy trinkets around willy-nilly. She took the time to get to know me and my wife and designed a room that we both want to be in. Honestly, I think about how I want to be in that room when I'm not in it. I've sent photos to everyone I know and the response is typically, "I want to be in that room," or "how did she pull that off?" Emilie didn't exactly play it safe but she also never took me completely out of my comfort zone. I think the fact that she can walk that line really sets her apart. I recommend her with my highest compliments.
Emilie is a pleasure to work with. She made our basement renovation a stress free process. The design process was collaborative and fun and everything turned out beautifully. Emilie was willing to work with us to takes on as much, or as little, as we wanted in order to meet our budget needs. We would definitely work with her again!
