Want it all without dealing with contractor headaches, furnishing sourcing, and worrying about what’ll look good? We take care of every detail so you don’t have to.
You’d be surprised how much remodeling just one room can change your life. That home office you used to dread walking into soon becomes a little escape, your outdated living room transforms into a haven for entertainment, and your disorganized bedroom is now the ultimate retreat to brush off the day. Each space takes on a whole new meaning.
We creatively bring these new meanings to life with complete, end-to-end design services for single room remodels, charged at a fixed fee per room. We’ll get to know what you like, what you don’t like, and how you’ll use the space to bring together a perfectly balanced yet playful look, integrating personal items that mean a lot to you and vintage elements that make a statement.
From managing all contractor communications and sourcing custom furniture and artwork to refinishing family heirlooms and ordering furnishings so they’re ready to stage all at once, at Home Methods, your only “job” is to give us feedback until you’re happy with the design and then simply watch your remodel come to life.
Whether you’re upsizing to a new home and need to make the most of the new space with the right furnishings and accessories, or you’re downsizing and want help deciding what to keep, refinish, and buy new, we can take the decision headaches away with honest, practical, and design-first advice.

From contractor management to final staging, we take care of every piece of the interior decorating puzzle.
Once we talk interiors in a free 30-minute consultation to get an idea of what you need, we visit your home to dive deeper into your goals and take measurements
After you’ve approved the contract, we get to work on creating two detailed design boards with floor plans (plus a rendering if your project includes construction) to help you visualize your new space
Once you’re happy with the final designs, we source and manage any vendors and contractors needed to execute your design and create a detailed project schedule
During the sourcing phase, we purchase any furnishings, custom pieces, and decór to complete your design, keeping them in one place until we’re ready to decorate

Based on your preference, we can try to incorporate as much of your current furniture into your design. However, some pieces might be too worn, outdated, or far removed from the new style concept to work. But listen, we won’t force you to part ways with anything—all we can do is gently advise or give the old piece some love with refinishing or reupholstering services.
When you book your free 30-minute consultation, you’ll answer some questions to give us a good idea of what you want. But before our chat, it might be helpful to have a list of likes, dislikes, budgets, and general goals for your project. Got pictures or a Pinterest board? Even better!
Though we don’t offer color consultations as a standalone service, we do include these in every remodel or interior design project to help you select the perfect colors and finishes to fit your preferences and design concept.
Developing and finalizing your designs are typically the shortest part of the process. Depending on availability, ordering pieces and scheduling vendors is a bit more time-consuming.
Generally, the entire interior design process takes between 3-6 months, though this varies from client to client.
We advise you to start your design process sooner rather than later, so we've got everything installed for that big housewarming party (or another deadline you have in mind!)
In our contract, you’ll see a fixed fee per room and estimated hours. We’ll approach your project one room at a time and move at a pace you’re comfortable with, making sure we create a cohesive, connected style across every room.
We can change them! We typically provide two unique design options to give you a sense of how both of them can work in the space. We also provide alternate options for key pieces (i.e., sofas, rugs, etc.) to give you more flexibility.
We typically need more time with you during the consultation phase to get a deep understanding of your needs. Then, we’ll work hard in the background pulling a cohesive design concept together, so that we can present a finalized plan, rather than small parts of it. This is when we’ll need you again to give us as much feedback as possible until you’re happy with the design.
During the implementation phase, we have everything we need, so we tend to speak less as we’re busy pulling your entire look together, ordering products, and managing contractors and vendors. But don’t worry—we keep you informed at every step of the process.
If you see or buy a new piece you’d like us to include or have any questions at all, always feel free to reach out. When it comes to communication and involvement levels, we let you guide us. If talking more often makes you feel more comfortable, let’s do that. If you prefer periodic check-ins, that’s ok too!
Unfortunately, our client’s budgets vary, so we have to give the classic answer: It depends (sorry!).
In general, it’s good to have an idea of what you’re comfortable paying for in terms of materials and our interior design time and expertise.
If you only know the total amount you wish to spend, that works too. We’ll always be honest with you about what you can or can’t accomplish with your budget.
If there’s something specific you want to get out of our time working together, please let us know so we can make sure it’s accounted for (pun intended) from a budgetary standpoint.
After our initial 30-minute consultation and home visit, we’ll be able to give you a quote for your project, at which point you can decide whether you’d like to work with us or not.
We can help you narrow down your style, but what’s more important for us is understanding what you like and don’t like. Love purple but hate yellow? That’s great information for us to have! Have a strong desire for privacy and like to keep your windows covered? That’s important too!
If you have pictures, pieces of furniture, or stories about your space that tell us what you’re looking for, that goes a lot farther than saying, “I like mid-century modern.” Of course, if you know you like mid-century modern, then, by all means, tell us that too!
During the consultation and design revision phases, we will ask all the right questions to pull out a style from what you tell us, creating something truly unique to you.
Absolutely! If you have a vendor in mind you’d like to use, we’re happy to work with them. We also have a trusted network of local Baltimore contractors and vendors if you need recommendations. Whether you want to source your own or use our network, we can manage them for you, so you’re not overwhelmed with admin.
Our designs will give you everything you need to source and buy any item, and we’re happy to step aside while you do so. If, however, you’d like a more full-service approach, we’ll own everything for your space, including ordering products, so it’s one more thing you can cross off your to-do list!
We help clients from all over Baltimore and surrounding counties! From somewhere else and want our interior design services? Get in touch, and we’ll see what we can do.
I cannot recommend Emilie enough! When I started working with Emilie, I told her my goal was for my home office to be a beautiful place I wanted to go to work. Not only did she make it a room I want to be in -- her keen eye, focus on my tastes and budget made the room my favorite in my whole home. Emilie is organized, easy to talk to and fun to work with. She truly understands what clients are looking for and brings her strong sense of design to help elevate clients' tastes and serve their needs. Hire her!
Emilie did an incredible job in both designing an efficient closet that would match our needs and space limitation, but also took the lead on dealing with the installation companies, saving us time, frustration, and money.
I could not glow more about the experience of working with Emilie and her team. From design to execution, she did a fantastic job threading the needle between mine and my wife's tastes, which were at times at different ends of the spectrum.
We moved into a new house and the previous owners left us with an incredibly tacky aesthetic. Emilie transformed the space and managed all aspects of installers, painters, deliveries, etc. She brought simplicity to a complex process that was made even more complex by COVID supply chain challenges and left us with a space that is simply jaw-dropping. We couldn't be more pleased and we probably did better from a budget perspective than had we decided to go it alone. We will definitely be working with Home Methods again!
Emilie provided invaluable guidance and support for refurnishing and updating our home. We were living abroad and needed both an interior decorator and project manager to coordinate different aspects of our home renovation project - from updating our living room, kitchen and dining room to decorating the children’s bedrooms and finishing the basement. Emilie was an expert counselor and helped us make great choices for our new home. Emilie has impeccable style / judgement and provides enough flexibility for the client to feel like they are tailoring the home to their personal tastes and personality. We love our new home! Thank you HomeMethods!
I worked with Emilie at Home Methods from April of 2021 through the first year of the new year. I received a referral from Greenleaf Construction in Baltimore and could not be happier with their recommendation. During our first consultation, Emilie created a safe space for exchanging ideas while maintaining her professional experience and advice. She was thorough with her notes, measurements and patient with the many questions I asked. Home Methods was responsible for changing the interiors of our dated office kitchen, primary bathroom, powder room, and secondary bathroom. Emilie even went the extra mile and assisted with ordering and purchasing every key fixture required for the construction crew to begin. Emilie was respectful of my busy and chaotic schedule and trustworthy with our office work and projects. Another reason why I would work with Emilie again and have recommended her to several colleagues is she is very upfront about prices, cost, and sticks to your desired budget. Knowing you will not be invoiced more than was discussed was such a relief. Our office interiors came out beyond beautiful, and I cannot thank Home Methods enough for their professionalism, creativity, patience, and kindness. You will not find a better Designer here in Baltimore or the DMV area.
Working with Emilie to design and furnish my office was a great experience! She is professional, responsive, honest and works with you to find YOUR aesthetic. She is willing to work within any budget and goes out of her way to make the whole process as easy as possible for the client. She is approachable, respectful and hardworking. I love my new office!
Working with Home Methods and Emilie Schiller has been a phenomenal experience. I had a space that was ill-defined that I wanted to repurpose as a home office / guest bedroom but didn't know where to start. At our initial consultation, Emilie listened to my vision, learned more about my design style / desired budget, and took measurements. She delivered two amazing floor plan options, both of which were within budget and matched my aesthetic. After I chose one, she coordinated everything--from tracking deliveries to staging the space to hiring contractors to paint/assemble/hang. She did it all! I love this space now. Working from home, I go into my new office each morning and feel a wave a calm wash over me because it is here I feel authentic. This is all in thanks to Emilie and Home Methods! I'm so enthralled by my new space that I'm on to round 2, where Emilie will help me redesign my open floor plan entryway / living room / dining area. Cannot recommend Emilie enough!
Emilie has been an absolute dream to work with. Our project was huge, spanning two floors of our house and including an outdoor area. She helped us to create new layouts, source new furniture, create an aesthetic that blended both my and my husband's unique tastes, AND keep things wheelchair accessible and disability-friendly which is especially important for me! We have received countless compliments on our newly redesigned house. She also worked incredibly well with our other contractors including an architect and kitchen designer to coordinate deliveries, design new features, install shelves/hanging features/art, and add wallpaper/paint that would be cohesive. Her connections to both large stores and local craftspeople meant that our designs were affordable and one-of-a-kind. We will be continuing to hire Emilie when we need help deciding on the perfect piece to add to the foundation she's helped us to build.
I worked with Emilie to design my living room which was a challenging space and one in which my furniture from a previous home did not function well. The entire process was such a pleasant experience. Emilie gave me several very creative floor plan and design board options, detailed information about selections and pricing (all within my budget) and was always available to answer questions and offer suggestions. Once I had decided on a plan, she arranged everything and I always knew what to expect. The result is a living room that I absolutely love and feel good about when I walk in the door. Everyone who sees it is wowed. I cannot recommend Home Methods and Emilie enough.
