You’d be surprised how much remodeling just one room can change your life. Once we talk interiors in a free 30-minute consultation to get an idea of what you need, we visit your home to dive deeper into your goals and take measurements

Once you’re happy with the final designs, we source and manage any vendors and contractors needed to execute your design and create a detailed project schedule
During the sourcing phase, we purchase any furnishings, custom pieces, and decór to complete your design, keeping them in one place until we’re ready to decorate

Based on your preference, we can try to incorporate as much of your current furniture into your design. However, some pieces might be too worn, outdated, or far removed from the new style concept to work. But listen, we won’t force you to part ways with anything—all we can do is gently advise or give the old piece some love with refinishing or reupholstering services.
When you book your free 30-minute consultation, you’ll answer some questions to give us a good idea of what you want. But before our chat, it might be helpful to have a list of likes, dislikes, budgets, and general goals for your project. Got pictures or a Pinterest board? Even better!
Though we don’t offer color consultations as a standalone service, we do include these in every remodel or interior design project to help you select the perfect colors and finishes to fit your preferences and design concept.
Developing and finalizing your designs are typically the shortest part of the process. Depending on availability, ordering pieces and scheduling vendors is a bit more time-consuming.
Generally, the entire interior design process takes between 3-6 months, though this varies from client to client.
We advise you to start your design process sooner rather than later, so we've got everything installed for that big housewarming party (or another deadline you have in mind!)
In our contract, you’ll see a fixed fee per room and estimated hours. We’ll approach your project one room at a time and move at a pace you’re comfortable with, making sure we create a cohesive, connected style across every room.
We can change them! We typically provide two unique design options to give you a sense of how both of them can work in the space. We also provide alternate options for key pieces (i.e., sofas, rugs, etc.) to give you more flexibility.
We typically need more time with you during the consultation phase to get a deep understanding of your needs. Then, we’ll work hard in the background pulling a cohesive design concept together, so that we can present a finalized plan, rather than small parts of it. This is when we’ll need you again to give us as much feedback as possible until you’re happy with the design.
During the implementation phase, we have everything we need, so we tend to speak less as we’re busy pulling your entire look together, ordering products, and managing contractors and vendors. But don’t worry—we keep you informed at every step of the process.
If you see or buy a new piece you’d like us to include or have any questions at all, always feel free to reach out. When it comes to communication and involvement levels, we let you guide us. If talking more often makes you feel more comfortable, let’s do that. If you prefer periodic check-ins, that’s ok too!
Unfortunately, our client’s budgets vary, so we have to give the classic answer: It depends (sorry!).
In general, it’s good to have an idea of what you’re comfortable paying for in terms of materials and our interior design time and expertise.
If you only know the total amount you wish to spend, that works too. We’ll always be honest with you about what you can or can’t accomplish with your budget.
If there’s something specific you want to get out of our time working together, please let us know so we can make sure it’s accounted for (pun intended) from a budgetary standpoint.
After our initial 30-minute consultation and home visit, we’ll be able to give you a quote for your project, at which point you can decide whether you’d like to work with us or not.
We can help you narrow down your style, but what’s more important for us is understanding what you like and don’t like. Love purple but hate yellow? That’s great information for us to have! Have a strong desire for privacy and like to keep your windows covered? That’s important too!
If you have pictures, pieces of furniture, or stories about your space that tell us what you’re looking for, that goes a lot farther than saying, “I like mid-century modern.” Of course, if you know you like mid-century modern, then, by all means, tell us that too!
During the consultation and design revision phases, we will ask all the right questions to pull out a style from what you tell us, creating something truly unique to you.
Absolutely! If you have a vendor in mind you’d like to use, we’re happy to work with them. We also have a trusted network of local Baltimore contractors and vendors if you need recommendations. Whether you want to source your own or use our network, we can manage them for you, so you’re not overwhelmed with admin.
Our designs will give you everything you need to source and buy any item, and we’re happy to step aside while you do so. If, however, you’d like a more full-service approach, we’ll own everything for your space, including ordering products, so it’s one more thing you can cross off your to-do list!
We help clients from all over Baltimore and surrounding counties! From somewhere else and want our interior design services? Get in touch, and we’ll see what we can do.
I am so happy to have worked with Emilie- my new apartment looks fantastic! She consulted with me over paint colors, rugs, art, and the placement of existing furniture as well as suggestions for new pieces that could be added to the space. She listened to what I was looking for and provided me with several design boards, all of which suited my needs. She knew immediately how to put things together, saving me from weeks and weeks of trying to figure it out myself. I am thrilled with every purchase and design decision thanks to Emilie's guidance and recommendations.
I needed someone to help me organize and place wall decor and small furniture like lamps after we made some changes in the way we were using some of our rooms. I was having trouble transitioning my things so they made sense. Emilie helped me see ways to use things and even helped me finally put some sentimental art and objects on display. She was fun to work with, and her willingness to respect my budget was appreciated! Emilie helped me create a gallery room that is just what I hoped for when we started this process! I highly recommend her.
We had the opportunity to work with Home Methods, while we thought we had an idea of what it would take to design a multi purpose room for our family, The consultants at Home Method offered a practical blueprint in terms of painting, ordering materials , etc. While the project was not fully completed due to our constraints Home Methods provided us with everything we need to complete our project within our budget and most importantly we love our redesigned basement.
Emilie from Home Methods did an amazing job decorating my study! She took the time to thoroughly understand my space and my requirements - taking exact measurements, reviewing my existing repertoire of decor and interviewing me for my desired style. The final product was fresh and engaging while still incorporating the classic styling of a gentleman’s study.
I can't give enough stars to Emilie/Home Methods. She was so easy to work with and understood my style and needs immediately. When I encounter obstacles with any of the pieces in our plan, she went above and beyond to help me pivot on the design. She even went out on a Saturday morning and bought me lamps when all the other options were sold out online. If you're looking to revamp the style and comfort of your home, definitely try to work with Emilie and Home Methods!
My husband contacted Emilie to work with me to decorate our master bedroom. I had a great time working with her on this project - she spent a lot of time listening to what I was looking for and ended up putting together a room we absolutely love.
I felt she communicated well throughout the process and helped us every step of the way to make the right final choices. Hoping to do more work with Emily and Home Methods in the future!
Emilie is incredible! She created a fantastic design that incorporated our preferences, desires, and style, while still giving us many choices and options along the way. Emilie also managed the project for us— she was so efficient, on top of every detail with the contractor, and very thoughtful. Emilie is talented and knowledgeable, and we’ll be enjoying our beautiful bathroom for many years to come!
Emilie from Home Methods took the lead with several projects to prepare our condo to be move-in ready (we lived in Austin and moved to Baltimore). We could not have accomplished so much without Emilie's help and expertise (new closet doors and organizing system, carpeting, touchup painting, window treatments, utility closet, and such). Emilie coordinated and facilitated work from start to finish (estimates, vendor selection, and installation). She went above and beyond in carrying out her work. I'd love to work with Emilie again!
We had never engaged an interior designer and heard both good and bad stories. Here is our experience and recommendations for others like us. Emilie is a unicorn ... an amazing designer + a strong business person. She captured everything we needed from a design perspective. She understood our budget and kept me in check when I tried to wander outside of it. As a newbie to working with a designer this is critical because EVERYTHING looks amazing. Emilie presented us a detailed budget and ordering spreadsheet. She engaged all vendors and scheduled everything. She pulled all samples and presented them to us.
Next advice to newbies ... work with a designer who is flexible. Emilie is patient and understanding. She offers multiple design options and is open to our design recommendations. That is really important.
Paint: Stunning ... entryway up through the second level gorgeous tinted grey. Stark white ceilings that Emilie had cut perfectly. Main Floor is a darker tint that pops off of the wall. Main Floor Half Bath: a textured wall paper painted the same color as the main level + an incredible mirror that replaced the builder grade mirror that was there. Rugs: Perfectly selected to break up a large open space into a series of living areas. just perfect.
This was our first experience with an interior designer. We could not have selected anyone better. Emilie / Home Methods is best of class. Once this pandemic ends we're working with Home Methods to design the second level :-)
